With violent anti-war protests at home and discipline problems on US bases, President Nixon promises to withdraw American troops from the Vietnam War. But that doesn’t mean an end to the fighting. As US troop numbers drop, the war expands across borders and in the air as more weapons are pumped into the South

It is truly remarkable to me just how delusional the French could become as the war drags on. Their veteran troops and equipment were all gone, Paris was starving in a siege that no efforts even came close to breaking, all attempts to form new armies were quickly and decisively shattered, and yet they hold on to this absurd belief that they'll somehow turn around and win. One shudders to think of the volume of suffering caused by the stubborn pride of a few politicians.

My father's cargo ship, one of at least 30 allied flag vessels in convoy ONS 5 was attacked and sunk in the North Atlantic by about 25 U Boats in early April 1943. These ships were on their return voyages following delivery of supplies to Britain. One merchant mariner was lost from his ship, the cook, due to drowning. In the ensuing battle, over several days and nights, five U-Boats were sunk or disabled by various means including ramming carried out by a few British destroyer escorts. The crew on my father's ship (he was second mate on this voyage, having graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy Kings Point, New York 1941) were subsequently picked up by Canadian sailors on corvettes much like Higgins boats I believe.

You dont even know what Vietnam was really all about. The French and the U.S. didn't care a rats patooti about them or their freedom. They only cared about controlling the opium & heroin that was flooding down from China, and getting it into Europe and the U.S. to begin to start changing our society as we knew it. And nothing more. Oh of course, they got fabulously wealthy off of it too. But the goal was to change society. And they did. You're living that change now. LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹

This is overinflating soviet losses andstrongly reducing german losses. It is clear that the german army was absolutely broken in Kursk and the losses where very likely somewhere between 35%-50%. Far greater than what is presented here. During the battle of Kursk germans threw in thousands of fresh soldiers a day and at the end of the battle the germans that were added to the battle made up hundreds of thousands. The numbers arent clear but the loss ratio in manpower is somewhere around 1:1.8-2 not 1:6.

So what’s so difficult to understand why Rommel lost in North Africa. The Allies controlled the Mediterranean thus Rommel was deprived os supplies, equipments, and reinforcements. Montgomery build a huge numerical number advantage in every categories arms, soldiers, fuel, weapons, and tanks. Rommel’s line of supplies were stretched up to 5 days truck across the desert with allied air power cutting fuel and ammunition a a trickle. The Afrika Korp was depleted without new troops. Montgomery will not engage the Afrika Korp unless he has overwhelming numerical advantage. Montgomery was perfectly happy to sit and wait for Rommel to attack with overwhelming disadvantage. SO WHAT’S tone surprise? Montgomery in front and the discombobulated Americans in his rear. AGAIN, WTFS, Rommel Afrika Korp lost in North Afrika? Really what’s the freaking surprise?????

Why did France lose to Vietnam in the battle of Dien Bien Phu? because they forgot one thing: they were at war with all the Vietnamese people, not just with the communists. And that is also what led to the failure of the US government later when they did not really understand the lesson the French left behind, which is "Don't challenge nationalism in Vietnam".

Who are “Anglo- American troops” under the command of Eisenhower?? is that supposed to be another made up term for US, UK, CN, AUS troops?? or was there a country called Anglo-America?? America is always meddling in a foreign territory ( South America , Middle East, Asia) fighting to “protect our freedom” initiating Proxy wars, military coup , or just flat out overthrowing a country’s government by force. I think anytime a decision is made by government leaders to deploy us troops into combat, their own children should be the first to see the frontline. I can assure you the government will be more selective as to whom and why we go to war. There will be a whole lot less boogeyman threatening “our freedom”

OK.

How come you never mentioned Ultra? It is my understanding that the Brits tipped off the Russians about German intentions, after deciphering the German Enigma codes which spelt out the whole plan. They then had to find a way to convince Stalin, and came up with a fictitious double agent in Switzerland.
